ClariNext is a Clarinet Ensemble consisting of (ex)students of Céleste Zewald, based in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
ClariNext is a ‘semi-professional’ education- and concert project ensemble, related to the Utrechts Conservatorium, performing concerts both inside and outside the school. Students from all years and levels (Young Talented Department, Bachelor and Master) take part in the ensemble.
Approximately about eight projects a year result in concerts with programmes with great variety of compositions: both original and new works, ‘jazzy’ like pieces, traditional classical pieces and transcriptions for clarinet ensemble.
The ensemble also often works with soloists from the own group.
ClariNext plays in various settings: whole ensemble (17 people in 2013), quintet, quartet, trio etc.
The name ‘ClariNext’ is meant to point to ‘the next generation clarinetists’. At the moment the youngest players are from the Young Talented Department, 15 years old.
In the last year ClariNext performed in churches and small theaters in Holland. In April 2013 the group will prepare a concert in the well-known concerthall ‘Vredenburg Leeuwenbergh’ in Utrecht in combination with a coaching/masterclass by Swiss clarinettist and composer Matthias Müller.
In July 2013 the ensemble will (most likely) attend the ClarFest 2013 by the International Clarinet Association, in Assisi, Italy.
